Why choose us? Training

Capability Scotland has a strong commitment to quality through training and development opportunities for our staff and volunteers. Our training aims to benefit equally our staff and volunteers, and the customers who use our services.

Through our training programs, we aim to:

  • Provide training to reflect the needs of our customers and the organisation.
  • Improve the services we are able to provide.
  • Provide a diverse range of services.
  • Provide training to act as a stepping stone to a Scottish Vocational Qualification (SVQ).
  • Encourage customers to provide feedback, ensuring their needs are considered as much as the needs of staff are.

Most of our training is carried out by a team of internal trainers who have experience both of working and delivering training in the care sector.

"Since starting with Capability I have been given the opportunity to develop my knowledge and skills at different training courses, helping my personal development. I started with Capability ten years ago as a relief assistant support worker and now I am a Team Leader. The training provided throughout the organisation can support anyone with ambition and goals to achieve success in their career. People are also given the knowledge and skills required to do their current roles to a very high standard."

"I am thoroughly enjoying being a Training Volunteer, it makes me feel motivated and enthusiastic and I really enjoy meeting new people - this role helps me to do that too! It has been really worthwhile it gives me a feeling of independence and responsibility, it keeps me busy and gives me things to do - and it also benefits the service users and staff."
