The odds are looking good for Capability Scotland’s Evening at the Races
01/07/2008
Capability Scotland, one of Scotland’s leading disability organisations, is holding an Evening at the Races at Perth Racecourse on Tuesday 29 July 2008. The event, which is sponsored by Scotbet, promises to be a glamorous and fun evening set in beautiful surroundings.
The event aims to attract over 100 guests and will consist of a three course meal, six races, a raffle and entertainment from legendary soul band, The Drifters. The money raised will be used to support disabled people throughout Scotland.
Capability Scotland has a number of services in the Perth and Kinross area. Upper Springland in Perth is a residential service for adults aged 18 to 65 with a physical and/or learning disability. Up to 50 people use the service each day on a full or part-time basis. The service gives users the chance to try out new things, meet people and learn new skills. Some of the activities on offer are education and learning and independent living skills.
Also in nearby Scone is Capers Cottage. This service allows disabled children and their families the chance to enjoy planned breaks away from each other. Children up to school-leaving age can enjoy a short holiday in this bright, welcoming cottage in Perthshire within idyllic surroundings.
Capability Scotland’s Head of Fundraising, Ann Ward, commented on the event:
"Capability Scotland is delighted to be working with Scotbet to raise awareness and funds for our work with disabled children, adults and their families. Our aim is to transform people's expectations of what is possible and ensure that disabled people achieve equality."
