Previous event participants have thoroughly enjoyed their fundraising experiences. Read on to find out what motivated them and what their fundraising experiences were like.

Chris Dunsire organised a Shave Off event in support of Capability Scotland.
He said : “The reason I have chosen Capability Scotland:- It's a difficult decision, as there are always so many worthy causes, but my reason is quite simple… having worked for myself all my life you get kind of caught up in your own wee world. Things that you think are troubles, worries, day to day stuff, kind of disappear when you realise that you really don't have anything all that serious to worry about… this happened to me one day sitting at the traffic lights, I thought I had the weight of the world on my shoulders and then I saw a wee old woman, she was walking home with - what I assumed was - her disabled daughter, the daughter must have been in her forties, and from what I saw her mum must have been looking after her all her life… made me realise that I didn't have any troubles at all. It still helps me to keep that in my minds eye from time to time… that's one of the reasons why I chose to support Capability Scotland”.

Christian Bruce ran the New York City Marathon in 2006 in 4 hours, 27 minutes and 4 seconds, raising £9,000 for Capability Scotland.
He said:  “The whole New York experience is one which I will never forget for many reasons. However, my most sustaining and humbling memory is of the generosity of all those people who sponsored me.”

Inverkeithing Competitive Amateur Swimmers (InCAS) held a sponsored swim in aid of Capability Scotland on the 16th of June 2007.  The swimmer was Andrew Lindsay, a Paralympic athlete- he swam roughly 3 miles (180 lengths). They had 25 swimmers take part with some as young as 8 swimming 80 lengths! Chief Coach Garrie Roberts said: “It is great that our young swimmers are prepared to give up their free time to raise funds for their own clubs and other charities.  We decided to support Capability Scotland because we know they can make a difference to the lives of disabled adults and children and their families and carers”.

Barbara Edgar who did a skydive with the Red Devils in May 2007 for Capability Scotland said: "How true is your slogan! Capability Scotland made a dream come true for me. A tandem parachute jump was something I always wanted to do but thought it was impossible and something that I would be so scared to do. When Capability Scotland gave me the opportunity to take on this challenge, I “jumped” at the chance. I was really so scared in the plane before the jump and I thought “I can’t do this” but I got the courage and strength from thinking how many people I would be helping from the £1,400 I had raised. It was a marvelous experience for me and your slogan is so true; “Can’t is just a four letter word”. If you want to do something enough you will find the strength to succeed.”

David Howie participated in our challenge event in Morroco in 2007.
Dave said: "It was wonderful to see so many people I contacted willingly giving up time and money to help support the effort -an entire primary school taking part in a "skipathon" was excellent. The challenge itself was superbly organised, brought together a very diverse group who quickly got to know each other, and supported and encouraged each other during the climb.  It is difficult to imagine any other way to get such a group to work effectively together as a team. Our Berber guides entertained us with information on the locality and the people - something the average tourist to Morocco would probably never experience.  It certainly beats a normal holiday!"
