Group of Barclays employees on the Ben Nevis Challenge

It was a privilege to be part such an unique event and for such a great cause.

Hear from those who have taken part in our events

Below is just a small sample of feedback that we have received from supporters who have taken part in one of Capability's fundraising events.  If you have taken part and have had a rewarding experience why not submit your story and images to us - we'd love to hear from you!

The Ben Nevis Challenge is one of the most exciting, rewarding and toughest challenges that we have ever been involved in.  It was a journey of self discovery, and also discovering a little bit more about each other in a totally different environment, having to overcome obstavles that we had never been subjected to before,  and work them out together to achieve what we thought at first was unachievable.

The event itself was handled fantastically by Capability Scotland and Scope, which resulted in the project being even better and more successful than we could have ever expected.  We felt supported every step of the way, from the fundraising idea's at the beginning, to the training weekend in the lake district, to the actual climb to the summit.

The challenge involved a lot of preparation, both physical and organisational -fitting in training and fundraising while continuing to work etc was as much of a challenge as the expedition itself.  It was wonderful to see so many people I contacted willingly giving up time and cash to help support the effort - an entire primary school taking part in a "skipathon" was excellent.

The challenge itself was superbly organised, brought together a very diverse group who quickly got to know each other, and supported & encouraged each other during the climb. Difficult to imagine any other way to get such a group to work effectively together as a team - more effective than any corporate team building event!

Exposure to local culture - our Berber guides entertained us with information on the locality & the people - something your average tourist to Morocco would probably never experience.

It's different - certainly beats a normal holiday!

Though I love adventure and trying out new and challenging things I rarely apply this philosophy in everyday living. I have often lacked a certain belief that I CAN and that I WILL do things in life. For me this trip is more psychological than physical. I know I can manage it from a physical point of view but I struggle psychologically. I have found that trainingfor this adventure has been transformational, being in contact with nature and being active within it teaches one so much about life and about oneself. I am looking forward to the learning. I am especially looking forward to being next to and learning with, from and about Quintin, Rebecca, and Daniele as well as the country at large.

The charity I chose to raise money for was not my first option. I firstly chose the meningitis trust because I suffered from bacterial/viral meningitis when I was a teenager and temporarily lost my sight and consciousness. I had a friend who also died from the infection too. However, I realised that many people become incapacitated through having meningitis. In fact, not just meningitis but many other disorders can cause disability. I have often wondered what life would be like with a disability - how would I cope and how would Scotland/the world cater for me? I have a deep admiration for the resilience we observe in many people with disabilities. I think that this is a truly needed and most important charity - I am really happy to be raising money for Capability Scotland.

Though I have never cycled more than about 20 miles in one go I loved the idea of cycling my way across the country.

When my daughter developed epilepsy, Westerlea Early Years provided her with a fun and educational place to spend a couple of hours a week, and I got a well-needed break knowing she was in safe hands.   She also enjoyed some
sessions in a mainstream local authority summer club with the support of Edinburgh Childcare 4 All.   Capability Scotland has been a brilliant support to our family, and I really wanted to say thank you.

The Swishing event was a fun way of raising money while having a glamorous evening with the girls.   We swapped accessories, had a great laugh and raised £500 for Westerlea!
