Stanmore School raises money for Pudsey
18 November 2011
Pupils and Staff from Primary class at Stanmore House School in Lanark have raised £140 for Children in Need.
The children and staff organised a "Pudsey and Blush tea party"
to raise funds for the charity which hosts its annual telethon
tonight, 18 November.
The children were involved in the promotion of the event and
used their own pictures to advertise it throughout the school as
well as organising admission tickets, raffle tickets, welcoming
guests and hosting the afternoon for all the staff and pupils.
Using a variety of materials and textures pupils made individual
Pudsey and Blush hand held faces of bears, with assistance, drew
oval shapes to be painted and made into decorative spotty
balloons,' show your spots' being a motto of Children in Need this
year.
Sue Williams, Capability's lead manager for Early Years,
Education and Childcare said:
"It is extremely important for children with complex needs to
contribute to supporting the wellbeing of others in our society and
I am delighted about how successful the Primary class event was.
Both pupils and staff were very pleased to participate in such a
worthy and fun afternoon."
BBC hosted its first broadcasted children appeal in 1927 and has
been a staple in UK households ever since. So far Children in Need
has raised over £600 millions for children all over the UK,
breaking fundraising records every year.
