The right help at the right time in the right place

The Doran review, commissioned by the Scottish Government, looked at the education of children and young people with additional support needs.

The title of the report summarised author, Peter Doran's, vision for services. This was that all children and young people with complex additional support needs and their families would have access to 'The Right Help at the Right Time in the Right Place'. Peter Doran has been working with Capability Scotland since 2013 to help the organisation develop it's learning provision services and has been impressed by the commitment demonstrated by the organisation in this area.

"As Chair of the Strategic Review of Learning Provision for Children and Young People, published in November 2012, I have been inspired by Capability Scotland's commitment to achieving the vision and ambition of the review as captured in the title: The Right Help at the Right Time in the Right Place. "

He commented:

As Chair of the Strategic Review of Learning Provision for Children and Young People, published in November 2012, I have been inspired by Capability Scotland's commitment to achieving the vision and ambition of the review as captured in the title: The Right Help at the Right Time in the Right Place.

Building on the schools' strong track records, Capability Scotland has developed a learning provision service that will deliver the highest quality of teaching, therapy and care to pupils and their families when they need this support.

I have been delighted to help in these developments and I have been impressed by the determination of the leadership and staff within Capability Scotland and the schools to ensure that these truly child-centred services make a real difference to the experiences and outcomes of children and their families.
