There are many ways in which you and your workmates can support Capability Scotland
This is a fantastic way to support us as we can rely on the money coming in each month, helping us to plan for the future. Your gift is taken from your salary before tax, so we get a little extra instead of the tax man! Your employer can easily set this up.
A team from Barclays Commercial took part in the Beyond Boundaries Ben Nevis Challenge. They were one of eight teams climbing Britain's highest mountain, each led by a wheelchair user. It was an unforgettable experience, including illness and a puncture!
We run a great range of sporty events which can help you to achieve a personal sporting goal, sometimes alongside disabled competitors/teammates. You can also enjoy our social events. If you want to organise your own event, we’ll do all we can to help you.
Capers Cottage, our holiday home for disabled children in Perthshire, needed some painting done both inside and outdoors on their summerhouse. PricewaterhouseCoopers staff rose to the challenge and thoroughly enjoyed their day there. Fiona Stoddart, 'It was great fun. We really worked as a team and it was fantastic to meet some of the children who use the cottage and enjoy it so much.' Our services are always in need of help - it could be something practical like painting or gardening , or more specialised e.g. using your financial/marketing or other experience.
Burness, one of Scotland's leading law firms, sponsored the Beyond Boundaries Ben Nevis Challenge, a unique and risky event which really demonstrated Capability's mission for equality for disabled people. They also entered a team and provided volunteers, including their Managing Partner, Philip Rodney. There are lots of opportunities for your company to raise profile and reach new audiences through sponsorship.
By adding a small amount to the price of your product or service, and donating this amount to us, you and your clients can support our work together. Research shows customers are more likely to buy a product which is used in this way. It’s not just something for big retail names, smaller companies can get involved in this way too, and donate a significant amount over a period of time.
You can support us by donating your product or service, either directly to us, to use or sell in our shops, or to use as a raffle or auction prize at one of our events. We’re always looking for these!
What else?
We also have conference rooms you can rent; a laundry in Edinburgh and a Disability Equality Unit whose staff can check that your business is friendly towards disabled employees and customers
