Man with Musical Instrument

Without volunteers it would be impossible for us to continue providing our life changing services for children and adults across Scotland. Capability Scotland has a variety of volunteering roles which can be tailored to your own skills and requirements.

If you are interested in any of the following opportunities please e-mail us or call the fundraising team on 0800 980 5331.

Volunteer Administrators
We need Fundraising Volunteers to provide support to Capability Scotland's award-winning Fundraising Department, assisting with various administration and fundraising tasks at our Central Office in Edinburgh. Volunteers are trained and supported in all aspects of fundraising by members of the fundraising department.  Hours of work are flexible to suit (between 9am-5pm, Mon-Fri).

Volunteer Researchers
We often require volunteers to help us complete research into potential funding opportunities. This could be corporate or trust research, even research into suitable venues for events. This role could be done from anywhere so could suit people wanting to volunteer from home or those requiring more flexibility.

Volunteering in a Capability Scotland Shop
We are always looking for volunteers to assist in the day to day running of a Capability Scotland shop. We have 20 shops in Scotland and a variety of roles are available. We ask that our shop volunteers are able to commit a minimum of 2 hours a week to volunteering and are aged 18 and upwards. Working in one of our shops offers the opportunity to work part time within an exciting retail environment. See Shops & Collection Boxes for further information.

Volunteering as a Capability Scotland Box Collector
There are many areas where we are looking for volunteers to help us service our collection boxes.  Volunteers are required to visit local businesses in their area - such as corner shops, hairdressers and hotels - that have a Capability Scotland collection cans and empty the cans as required. Helping us this way will save valuable Capability Scotland resources. Collection box volunteers must be over 16.

Volunteer Collector
We always need volunteers to help us with collections across Scotland at places like local supermarkets and sporting matches. Collections are for around 2 hours and usually take place during weekends. Collectors must be over the age of 16.

Volunteer Community Events Fundraisers
You could help Capability Scotland raise vital funds by organising a local event on our behalf. You could do anything from planning a coffee morning to organising a treasure hunt. We will help you by providing the fundraising materials you need. We are also keen to hear from anyone interested in forming a volunteer events committee in your local area. Organising community events is a great way to make new friends and develop skills in different areas.

Volunteers at Events
Help out behind the scenes at one of our exciting fundraising events this year. See the Events page for a list of all of the events on our calendar and let us know if can help with some much needed support.

Volunteer  Educator
You could help Capability by giving talks at schools and different events to educate people on disabled children & adults and the different aspects of Capability’s work in Scotland.

For all of our volunteering roles Capability Scotland will reimburse travel expenses
