Volunteer

"I'd recommend volunteering to anyone. It really is so rewarding to know that in my spare time I can really make a difference whilst meeting new people and learning new skills."

Chris, Capability  charity shop volunteer

Volunteering

Capability Scotland needs volunteers of all ages, backgrounds and abilities to help deliver many of the services we provide. Our volunteers are ages 14 and upwards and there is no such thing as a typical volunteer! We currently have over 500 volunteers doing various roles, all with one thing in common; they bring a new dynamic to the lives of he people that use our services, as well as raising awareness and helping shape the landscape of disability.

We have various opportunities around the country you could be involved in including:

  • Administration
  • Befriending
  • Beauty Therapy
  • Charity Shops
  • Classroom Activities
  • Computer Support
  • Day Centre Activities i.e. art, cooking and music groups.
  • Drama
  • Driving
  • Fundraising
  • Gardening
  • Play and activity schemes
  • Reading
  • Research
  • Sport
  •

We aim to match your interests with the needs of our the individuals who use our services.  We can fit in with your availability and training and full support is offered . We also pay any out of pocket expenses that you may incur.

We require you to complete an application form and a Disclosure Scotland check. We can give you a record of your volunteering and can provide references for college or future employment. No special skills or experience are required – just a willingness to get involved!

So what are you waiting for? Please contact Suzanne O'Hara, Volunteer Manager, on  01698377035 or email suzanne.ohara@capability-scotland.org.uk if you would like to volunteer for Capability or would like any further information.
