Paisley lawers race for Capability Scotland

14/06/2007

Three Paisley Lawyers will be putting on their running shoes this weekend (23rd June) to raise money for one of Scotland’s leading disability organisations.

Charlie McCusker, Mark Chambers and Rhona Lynch are taking part in the West Highland race to raise money for an outdoor play area for Capability Scotland’s Corseford School in Kilbarchan, Renfrewshire.

The trio are hoping to raise £30,000 which will enable the school to develop a flexible outdoor space that the pupils can use for play, leisure and even outdoor lessons.

The West Highland Way race begins in Milngavie at 1am on 23rd June and competitors have to run, walk or jog to Fort William Leisure Centre by noon on the 24th June.  This gives them just 35 hours to cover 95 miles.

Speaking before the race, Charlie McCusker commented: “The Beanfeast Charity for Children is delighted to support Corseford School.  We are all excited about the project and hope that our efforts will raise sufficient funds for the play area. With the support we have had from the kids I am sure we will all complete the race.”

Capability Scotland Head Teacher, Marbeth Boyle said: “We are delighted that Charlie, Mark and Rhona have chosen to undertake this challenge on behalf of Corseford Schools. The pupils are already getting excited about the prospect of having an outdoor area and have started discussing how we might use it and what equipment we will need. Having the flexibility to use the space outside will undoubtedly enhance the young people’s educational experience.”
