Why us? Quality & Training

In December 2008 Capability became the first organisation of its type in Scotland to achieve Quality Management System (QMS) standard ISO 9001: 2008 accreditation through the British Standard Institution. Not only that, but we have successfully maintained our certification ever since.

ISO 9001: 2008 is a customer-focused standard aimed at ensuring satisfaction for everyone we deal with, the people who use our services, our contractual purchasers  and our suppliers.  With our diverse range of services it is essential for us to ensure we have effective systems in place.  The Quality Management System covers all areas of our business and is the means by which Capability implements its strategy and establishes operational systems for service delivery.   The system drives consistency in practice and robust processes, supporting the risk management aspects of the organisation.

Our achievement in attaining ISO 9001: 2008 demonstrates our commitment to embedding quality and continuous improvement across the organisation. For Capability our quality framework is not simply a set of policies, procedures and information which govern the way we operate - it is the heartbeat of our organisation, threaded through everything we do.

For our customers, the people who use our services, it ensures that we are covering all areas of the care and support we provide to them. We use our QMS to ensure that all legislative work, quality, safety and customers' rights and opinions are taken into account at every stage and in every aspect of our work. It ensures our customers have a great quality of service and are supported to have as much independence as possible. Customers and staff are also involved in our continuous development of the QMS and supported to give their feedback and suggestions for improvement.

For our staff our accreditation and success in maintaining it is an acknowledgement of all their hard work and dedication. The focus of QMS gives staff a framework which encourages and motivates everyone to work together toward the same goal. It also ensures we are recruiting the correct people with the skills and training required of them and, once they are part of Capability, enables us to develop and train our staff so they can take on new challenges and further their careers.
