Why us? Training

A strong element of our commitment to quality and continuous improvement is the training and development opportunities we provide to our staff and volunteers. Our training programmes are continuously developed to reflect the needs of our customers and the organisation as a whole. They are then implemented throughout the organisation and the positive results are reflected in both our people and the services we provide.

The training team offer a variety of courses, from those which are required by all members of staff to those which are specifically developed for a particular service. Our training programmes are central to all staff, ensuring that everyone working within our services can meet the demands of their particular role. The vast majority of our training is carried out by a team of internal trainers who have experience both of working and delivering training in the care sector. This experience is vital in ensuring the quality our training programme.

For many members of staff within the services the training we provide acts as a stepping stone to achieving a Scottish Vocational Qualification (SVQ). Once initial training is completed staff are then supported to achieve the qualification.

"Since starting with Capability I have been given the opportunity to develop my knowledge and skills at different training courses, helping my personal development. I started with Capability ten years ago as a relief assistant support worker and now I am a Team Leader. The training provided throughout the organisation can support anyone with ambition and goals to achieve success in their career. People are also given the knowledge and skills required to do their current roles to a very high standard."
Karen McAlpine

At Capability we place a central importance on investing in the futures of our staff. We continuously seek to expand the personal expertise of our people as well as supporting them to develop new skills in other areas. We encourage our customers to be involved in the process to ensure the needs of the people who use our services are taken into account as much as the needs of the staff receiving the training.

"I am thoroughlyenjoying being a Training Volunteer, it makes me feel motivated andenthusiastic and I really enjoy meeting new people - this rolehelps me to do that too!
