GSBO - Schools

The Great Scottish Book Off is a great opportunity for your school to show their love of books and reading at the same time as supporting Capability Scotland.

Students can bring in books that they have loved reading and swap them with other students so everyone has the chance to take home a new book to read.

We suggest students bring between 1 and 3 books so that there's plenty to choose from but not too many left over at the end. Any spare books can be dropped off at a Capability Scotland Charity Shop or added to your school library. We suggest that students donate £1 for taking part.

You can add to the fun by having a fancy dress day where pupils dress as their favourite characters and/or by taking part in our Children's Book Quiz which you can download from this page (please email us for the answers, we've not uploaded them in case the quiz is set as homework!).

You could also get your staff involved by holding a staff room GSBO, check out this page for more information about how to hold your own Great Scottish Book Off including an adult book quiz.

To get your GSBO pack including posters, stickers and bookmarks please contact our fundraising team fundraising@capability-scotland.org.uk.

How your money helps.

The money you raise from your GSBO will help us support disabled people across Scotland. If you have a class of 25 and raise £25 it could pay for accessible sports equipment allowing disabled children to take part in a range of adapted sports activities.

The money you raise helps to ensure that we are here for disabled people across Scotland. So encourage your students to dig out those pre-loved books arrange your schools GSBO event today!
