Volunteer in our charity shops

Are you looking for an opportunity to meet new people and learn new skills? Join Capability Scotland's shop team, we are looking for enthusiastic people to join the teams in one of our eleven shops across Scotland.

We have a wide range of opportunities so you will be sure to find something that suits you.  If you love chatting away to people we would love to have you on the shop floor with the customers, or on the till as one of our Gift Aid champions.  If you would rather be behind the scenes you can be a vital part of the team sorting through donations ready to be sold.  Or, if you have a flair for merchandising, have a go dressing our windows and enticing more customers into the shop.

The support of our volunteers helps ensure that Capability Scotland is here for disabled people, whether that be supporting a wheelchair user to conquer Arthur's Seat or empower a child with no verbal communication to tell their mum they love them for the first time. You can help make a difference. Meet some of our lovely shop volunteers below and find out why they volunteer in our shops.

Graham on giving him confidence

"Volunteering here has given me the confidence and belief that I can achieve things, it's given me something good for my CV, but also the opportunity to get out and meet folk and keep my mind active. I've met lots of new people and have many new friends from volunteering here, the social side has been a really big plus for me."

Connor on gaining new skills

"I want to join the parachute regiment, the skills I'm learning by volunteering have helped me a lot, for example I've learnt a lot of people skills by working on the shop floor. If you're considering volunteering then definitely do it! It's great work experience, it's good for your CV and great fun."

Diana on why she loves volunteers

"I love volunteering here because you never ever know what's going to be in a bag when someone hands one in, it's like a treasure trove every time you open one. It's important to have a variety of people with different skills and different knowledge on a team so hopefully we don't miss anything. Here we have a very very good team and we get on really well, there are a lot of laughs!"
