Service Details

The Allied Health service delivers integrated health care for children and adults who have complex needs across Scotland, with a primary focus across the central belt. This is achieved through personalised specialist health care and effective inter -disciplinary working of the Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy and Speech and Language therapy services.

Stanmore House School is a grant aided residential school operated by Capability Scotland.  The school provides education and therapy for pupils aged 5-18 with complex physical support needs.

Job Role and Responsibilities

We are looking to recruit a Speech & Language Therapist to work as part of Allied Health service within Stanmore House School. You will be required to provide an effective speech and language therapy service to enable and support our pupils who have complex needs. You will support them to access their education, and enable them to have control, choice and equality in daily life to the benefit of their health and wellbeing.

You will be expected to be responsible for a designated specialist therapy caseload incorporating pupil assessment, diagnosis and treatment and to within a multi-professional setting to ensure coordinated care for pupils.

You will provide specialist advice, supervision and clinical support to more junior therapists, undergraduate speech & language therapy students and support workers.

Experience/qualifications/key skills required:

The successful applicant will have a degree/diploma in Speech & Language Therapy and will be HCPC registered. You will have clinical expertise which reflects evidence based practice in the specialist field of multiple and complex needs. The ability to manage and prioritise your own work load is essential as are well developed organisational and communication skills. You will have experience of good interdisciplinary working with a holistic outlook and delivering an effective pupil/customer focused service. Dysphagia and Alternative & Augmentative Communication (AAC) experience is essential.

A car is not required for transporting customers but the role may involve an element of travel. A full driving license is desirable due to the nature of the role.
