Capability Scotland is 'here for disabled people' and provides care and support to disabled people throughout Scotland in a range of community based and residential services. We also provide education and employment services and campaign alongside disabled people on issues which matter to them.

Service Details

Fife Community Based Service supports adults 24/7 living in the Dunfermline and Rosyth area. Our aim is to enable people to achieve the level of independence they are looking for and to lead fulfilling lives. Each care package is unique and is designed to meet the specific needs and desires of each customer. Our work is to offer support to people to live happy, fulfilled and successful lives and this involves giving help with whatever is required to achieve this. We offer a range of support including practical, personal and emotional support to meet a variety of needs.

Job Role and Responsibilities

We are looking to recruit Support Workers for contracted hours to support customers with tasks associated with day-to-day living. You will work as part of a team providing a safe, caring environment for customers with disabilities. This will include assisting the individual to access community based activities and resources. You will need to provide personal care (including intimate care) and support customers with aspects of their general welfare.

The role will involve health related practices including mealtime assistance and administration of medication as and when required. Full training will be provided. The role will also involve a degree of physical activity which includes pushing wheelchairs and providing physical support to our customers

You must be able and willing to work flexible shifts which include weekends and sleepovers.

Key Requirements:

Experience of working in a similar role and environment is essential as is a willingness to undertake any personal development opportunities. You should have a care related SVQ Level 2, or the willingness to gain this qualification in a given timescale. You should possess good interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team and on your own initiative.

A full driving licence is desired but not essential. Capability Scotland is willing to consider alternative arrangements that achieve the same outcomes for those candidates that have a disability which prevents them from having a driving licence.
