About our service

Lanarkshire Houses is a community-based service which provides quality person-centred support to 16 adults with a range of disabilities. Our aim is to promote inclusion and equality within the local community and to ensure our customers live as independently as possible. We support individuals to identify their goals and work with them to achieve these. We support people in their own homes and in their local communities to access local amenities and resources (e.g. college, shopping, leisure activities).

We are looking to recruit a Support Worker for a 30 hour contract on a fixed term basis until March 2020. You will work as part of our team to provide a safe, caring environment for vulnerable adults. You will be required to undertake a key working role and assist the Team Leader to maximise customer outcomes.

The role involves a degree of physical activity, which includes pushing wheelchairs and providing physical support to our customers including personal care (intimate care).  The role will also involve health related practices including mealtime assistance and administration of medication where required.

Key Requirements

  • Experience of working in a similar role and environment
  • Willingness to undertake any personal development opportunities.
  • A care related SVQ Level 3 (or the willingness to gain this qualification in a given timescale).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team and on your own initiative.
  • Full Driving Licence* (we will consider alternative arrangements that achieve the same outcomes for candidates that have a disability that prevents them from having a driving licence)
  • Able and willing to work flexible shifts including weekends and sleepovers.
