1 in 4 poll
Our 1 in 4 Poll participatory network forms the core of our
external campaigning and influencing work. The 1 in 4 Poll enables
the people we support and other disabled people to tell us first
hand about their experiences.
There are over 500 people on our 1 in 4 Poll, including disabled
people, their families and carers from all over Scotland. Each
quarter they are surveyed on issues relating specifically to
disability or current affairs. The results of these polls have real
power. A Poll held in 2004 highlighted that an alarming number of
disabled people had experience of hate crime. This research played
a significant role in the introduction in 2009 of legislation in
the Scottish Parliament giving disabled people the same protections
under the law as those offered to victims of hate crimes in
relation to race or religion.
Previous surveys we have conducted include:
- Access to suitable housing
- Parenting teenagers
- Access to the physical environment
- Access to the justice system
- Voter intentions
- Access to leisure facilities
