Below is an overview of the consultations Capability Scotland will be responding to over the next few months. We're always keen to hear the opinions and experiences of staff, people who use our services and the general public.

Tenant Information Pack Consultation
Deadline: 18th May
The overall aim of a Tenant Information Pack is to put is to give
new tenants all the information that they need in order to be aware
of their rights and responsibilities and those of their landlords
in the private rented sector. The consultation seeks views on what
information should be contained within a tenant information pack
and what the pack should look like. We'd be keen to hear your views
on
- What information should be made available to disabled tenants at
the beginning of their tenancy?
- In what format should the information be made available?

Consultation
Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA): Reasonable
Adjustments to Assessment Arrangements
Deadline: 8th June
As a General Qualifications Body, SQA has a responsibility to
ensure reasonable adjustments are made for disabled candidates in
exams and assessments. The SQA believes that publishing a list
of adjustments which it considers should not be made could provide
clarity and certainty for candidates. It is seeking views on
developing this guidance. We would like to know you view on what
kind of adjustments should be made so that disabled students are
not unfairly disadvantaged during their exams and assessments.
We're particularly interested to know:
- Have you or anyone you know ever been unfairly disadvantaged in
an exam or assessment because of your disability?
- What kind of guidance should be issued?

Reasonable Adjustments to Assessment Arrangements
Consultation
Proposed Responsible Parking (Scotland) Bill
Deadline: 30th June
This proposed Bill aims to allow all pedestrians to
travel along the pavement and cross roads free from obstructions
caused by parked vehicles. It aims to make pavements accessible for
all pedestrians (and particularly wheelchair users) by restricting
parking on the pavement and at dropped kerbs. The Bill also seeks
to give local authorities new powers to regulate double parking.
We're really keen to hear your views on the consultation. In
particular:
-Do you have problems using pavements because of parked cars and
blocked dropped kerbs?
-Do you think introducing a new law is the best way to deal with
this?

Bill
Consultation on National Framework for Child Protection
Learning & Development in Scotland
Deadline: 3rd July 2012
The National Framework for Child Protection, Learning and
Development establishes standards that everyone working with
children must meet to make sure they deliver a high standard
of support. The aim is to ensure that all workers (paid and unpaid)
have the knowledge and skills to contribute to the task of
assessing, managing and minimising the risks faced by vulnerable
children. We'd really keen to know:
- Do you think the framework is clear and easy to
understand?
- Do you think the framework will be useful to you if you work
with children?

Private Sector Housing Strategy
Deadline: 12th July
2012
The Scottish Government is consulting on improving the quality of
the private rented sector (PRS) in Scotland. This consultation
seeks your views on how to take this area of work forward. The
strategy is part of the overall Scottish Government vision of "a
Scotland where all people live in high quality sustainable homes
that they can afford and which meet their needs". We're keen to
know whether you think the strategy meets the needs of Scotland's
disabled people in relation to the private rented sector. In
particular:
- Do you think the priorities identified are the right ones?
- What would need to change to make the private rented sector more
accessible to disabled people?
