The main focus of Corseford Short Breaks is to provide respite
to families whilst providing a positive and meaningful experience
to children and young people, and to support integration into the
wider community. Social activities such as trips to places of
interest and fun experiences are part of the respite
experience.
Every individual has the right to experience, to question, to be
challenged and to choose, as well as being supported to be as
independent as possible.
We work closely with families to ensure a good quality of life
for children and young people. This is achieved through the
delivery of holistic care and support and by adopting the
principles of GIRFEC and Person Centred Planning.
We have highly skilled staff, who are able to meet the
needs of the children and young people referred to us, including
those with epilepsy and those who require: rescue medication
management; support with medication administration; enteral
feeding; breathing management support; and other personal care
needs. We are a communication friendly environment and
actively encourage all children and young people to make choices
and use their chosen communication method.
On-site, we have an array of fun activities including a
trampoline, sensory theatre, over-sized out-door games
and arts and crafts.
Referrals can be made through Social Work or individuals and are
open to any disabled child or young person, aged 5-21.
