Service Details

Edinburgh Childcare 4 All supports mainstream childcare settings to develop their capacity to include children with additional support needs within their services. We can support:

  • Registered mainstream childcare providers including: out of school clubs, holiday clubs, private nurseries, partner provider nurseries and playgroups.
  • Parents who require childcare to maintain work, training or education.
  • Children with additional support needs.

We currently have a small staff team who work independently within mainstream childcare settings to support children with additional needs and require a Support Worker to provide this in After School Care.

We are currently looking to recruit a Support Worker on a fixed term basis, until March 2021, to work as part of our team to include children aged 0 - 16 years with additional support needs in mainstream childcare settings.

Please note this is an internal vacancy only.

The role involves supporting children with additional support needs to progress their development and encourage their social skills in a mainstream environment. You will work alongside mainstream staff to build their confidence and knowledge to support and include children with disabilities to enable their parents/carers to continue in employment/training or education.

You must be able and willing to work afternoons during the week.

Key Requirements

  • Experience of working in a similar role and environment
  • Willingness to undertake any personal development opportunities.
  • A care related SVQ Level 3 (or the willingness to gain this qualification in a given timescale).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team and on your own initiative.
  • Able and willing to work nightshifts.
